Mason Jar Pin Cushion and Sewing Kit

I poked my finger on a sharp needle digging thru my sewing basket. It bled. It hurt. :)
So I decided to make a "mini" sewing kit and pin cushion that could be easily accessible.
I wanted something cute that I could leave sitting on the laundry room counter. I imagined a pretty mason jar filled with scissors and pins and sewing needs. I love how this Mason Jar Pin Cushion & Sewing Kit turned out.
I know what you may be saying. Another Mason Jar project?? But I can't help myself. Plus, this one is so darn cute and practical, too. It's a pin cushion and sewing kit all in one....
And its so easy to make. It's No Sew (accept some basic needle and thread sewing) and took me less than 20 minutes to make, and that included filling the jar with some basic sewing essentials.
I cut out a circle about 2 1/2" larger than the lid. Then, I used a needle and thread to gather a stitch around the outside edge so it could be pulled tightly into a ball.
I stuffed the fabric ball with some cotton batting and added a few stitches to make sure the opening would stay closed.
The cotton-stuffed fabric ball was then inserted into the lid. I used a generous amount of hot glue to hold the top of the lid in place.
Finally, I added a bow which coordinated with the fabric pin cushion, and created this cute little tag with some corrugated scrapbook paper, a paper tag and a rubber stamp featuring a pair of scissors.
It could not be any easier. This will sit out on the laundry room shelf so there is no digging around the sewing basket to find some basic sewing items. Wouldn't these make cute gifts? I think I will make a few for Christmas.
