Hi all,How would you decorate/make useful this wall? It is between our kitchen and an entryway. Right now it only has a calendar on it.

I like Naomies suggestion for a message center. Add a large bullitan board.

Hi Olena. I'm Cindy. Since it's so close to the door, this area would be a perfect place to put a couple shelves up. You could place a pretty dish on one of the shelves to hold car keys, and a basket for the day's mail. Good luck Olena and Happy Holidays.

Great idea! I had been thinking about the message center for a while. If not only our dog occupied that spot on the floor. That's where he sleeps. It would be a challenge to write anything on the message center

Get or make a whiteboard or chalkboard for your message centre. Fix hinges on to the nearest side. Then fix on the wall. Now to write a message just swing the board out like when opening a door. You could mount it on shallow open shelvesso you have storage for other things like spice jars.

Would you actually use a message / memo center?

Personally, I dislike hanging keys and handbags in public spaces.

Don't paint the wall with chalkboard paint unless it's a classroom.

If you don't have a piece of art that you want to see every day, frames a beautiful piece of .... Whatever.

Or think about stencilling that wall.

And what is with the red ribbon?

I've always attached my calendars on the inside of one of my cabinet doors. Don't know where I got the idea- guess I don't like to take up my wall space for it, or want it in 'public' space.. That would free up that space where you have yours. Maybe you can see the space differently and come up with different ideas for it. You could put a tall bar chair there or any number of things. You could put a coat closet in that space facing the hallway.... Dare to dream. :-)

You can take a sheet of peg board and paint it or cover it with fabric and use the hooks to hang a variety of things that you use daily. You can even hang a shelf. Any hardware store will cut it to the size you want and they also have a variety of different size hooks:/brackets. If you want to cover it with fabric wrap the peg board tightly staple to back and punch out the fabric where you want the pegs placed. It's inexpensive and very handy. A cloth shower curtain works great to use as a fabric.

Since it is next to the kitchen and seen by family and guests alike, why not make it a beautiful display wall. Start (above doggy height) and go to the ceiling with a plate collection interspersed with 3-D items like plaques, wall mounted baskets (metal or woven), etc.

make it useful with either kitchen items or a message center. You already have thing stacked on the counter why not paint the wall a different color and add baskets at waist height for mail etc and shelving for rarely used kitchen items above.
