I'm making gifts for Christmas, but it's a little harder to find something you can make for the male family member. Girls are so easy. I had tee shirts and sweatshirts from my son's childhood, from elementary school, camp Hi-Hill, high school and college water polo teams.
First, cut out the screen print ( front and back if using both ). Then iron on a fusible interfacing to stabilize it.
Next choose the panels that you want to sew them to. I used 12 of the linen napkins from my son's wedding. I only had 11 prints from the shirts, so I painted a monster logo on the bottom right panel.
After sewing the prints to the napkins, I then sewed the panels into strips 3 wide. Then sewed each strip together ( 4 strips ). Now I want to add a border around each panel.
I chose a lime green polar fleece to match the monster logo my son is so fond of. The fleece makes the throw nice and cozy. He will be able to use the throw in his T V room to cozy up next to his wife while watching T V.
The back side is solid polar fleece. I bought 2 1/2 yards and it was on sale for $2.99 a yard.
The finished product. A warm comfy throw with memories from his childhood.
