I love decorating with numbers. They are a fun addition to any room and they always start a conversation when people come over. They can represent something special or don't have to stand for anything. Numbers are just a fun touch in any space. We are in the middle of an office makeover and I wanted to add bookends to some bookshelves. Instead of spending a lot of money in the stores, I decided to make my own. This project was so easy and took less than an hour to make.
I pick up numbers at yard sales and thrift stores whenever I find them. I have had these wood numbers in my stash just waiting for a project and thought they would make the perfect bookends for the home office.
Supplies Needed To Make Gold Dipped Number DIY Bookends:
{afilinks}
- Wood Numbers
- Dark Walnut Minwax Stain
- Gold Paint
- Scrap Wood
- Drill and screws
To start transforming these wood numbers into bookends, I stained them with Dark Walnut stain.
Then, I added a "gold-dipped" touch by painted the bottom portion of each number in gold paint.
I attached a piece of scrap wood to the back of each number so they would stand up and be able to hold a few books between them.
In only a few steps, I have some fun bookends for the home office! These were so simple to make and I have a few numbers left over that I may make another set for the other bookcase in the office.
