Christmas Stencil Project

Joining a small group of bloggers who got together to create using Christmas stencils. I do love a challenge and it's nice to have a few new decorations at the holidays. I found a stencil from StencilSmith that I really liked.
Then while visiting my daughter in Ohio, I found this old slate welcome sign. It was only $3.99 and in great shape.
I used black craft paint to cover the original sign. The red yarn was perfect for Christmas so I kept it.

This stencil I purchased was a square shape and if you look close you can see that there is quite a bit of slate above it. So I printed out an image of a bird on a branch and transferred it to the slate.
Then I filled in the chalk transfer with basic craft paint.

I ended up hanging this new addition on my porch. A little polyurethane spray was used once it was all dry to protect it from the elements.
