DIY Pottery Barn Wall Art

I found a piece of artwork from Pottery Barn that I wanted, but it was $359, and I didn't want to pay that. So, I decided to make my own. I went to Hobby Lobby and found a sign that was ready to be painted and it was already framed. I also bought 4 different color blues. I bought a paint brush but realized I would rather use a 5-in-1 tool to spread the paint. When I got home, I realized I needed the pain to be thicker. When I googled it, it said to add baby powder and glue. I didn't have the glue they recommended or baby powder, but I came up with the idea to add sheetrock powder to thicken it up, which is what I decided to do! I put the paint in the bowl and added the sheetrock to the texture that I wanted. I got a measuring tape and measured the sign and made 3 lines so that the 4 sections would all be even. I then applied the paint starting with the creamy white, then the light blue and went darker. It took 45 minutes to dry. Then I hung it above my dresser. I love how it turned out.

The most incredible part of your story is that you didn't have any baby powder or glue, but you had sheetrock powder on hand. Of course you did! Too funny. Great hack and good for you!
