I’m not sure I like shoes hanging there. Could you not remove the standing picture frame and build small shelves to fit the space across so you could store the shoes less visibly?
I would put in a floor to ceiling shelving unit, that’s made to have fabric boxes/bins and they can be multi/colors or subtle colors, or patterned, whatever you want.
Agree, a shelving unit with drawers and/or doors to hide the shoes.
How about a hall tree type area. A mirror with a desk, small nightstand, or shelving underneath.
I would get a pressboard shoe organizer - the ones that are about 2.5 feet tall and Under $20 at Wal-Mart, Target or any other big box store. Add a cute cushion on top for sitting. A mirror above. Now you are ready to land or take off.
The other option would be to put one of those full length mirrors on the short wall. Hang Nice hooks all along the long wall at a higher height for adults or longer coats and lower for things like kids jackets and backpacks. Run a low Boot shelf below the full length.
Looks like it would be a good place for all those shoes, then you can place that frame of family pictures in the newly blank space. You could put /build shelving for the shoes in the 'cubby' hole under the stairs.
Find a a dresser that can fit into that space, with plenty of drawers. You can put the shoes in the bottom drawers, or assign, one drawer for each person. A largish basket with lid for boots . Add some cute hooks to wall for coats. You can stagger the hooks for the size of child/ adult. Store some canvas bags in each drawer, for when there are too many items and each one can stuff the bag and take to their rightful place in their rooms. Add a mirror over the dresser, a narrow tall lamp if you need more light, one or two small photo frames. But don’t allow it to get messy. Also paint the dresser a great color for pizazz! Red, bright Yellow, emerald green.
I think shelves or a bench would work. If this is where you want to store shoes then some closed storage would work well. I am guessing this is right by the entrance to the house?
hI,
oPEN IT UP AND INSTALL pULL OUT TROLLEYS TO HOD YOUR SHOES!
I would look at Ikea for a shelving unit to fill as much of the space as possible. Add pretty baskets for storage.
