Can I plant Dahlia tubers in a moist area in my garden?

The spot that I am thinking of is not overly moist...I have some Astilbe there and they are doing great.

Dahlias bloom best when they are planted in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Border dahlias can be planted 15” apart from center to center; standard types are usually spaced about 18” from center to center.
Hello most sources recommend well drained soil. Too much voice your may cause root rot. Such a lovely flower deserves a proper location to preform at peak.
Go for a non-wet area. You need to dig them up for the winter or they will rot.

Hi AnnMarie, I don't think a moist area will work that well, as dahlias grow and flower best in a well-drained, sunny site. They like warm weather and will not tolerate frost. Plant dahlia tubers outdoors after your last frost date, when the soil has warmed.
