Step 1 - Pick The Type

There are two types of beans seeds(Pole beans & Bush beans). You can select a type that is suitable to plant in your gardens.

Step 2 - Site selection

Choose a location with moderate sunshine and nutrient-rich soil that drains well. As they grow higher, pole beans require less space to survive. Bush beans, on the other hand, require more area to grow. Around March or April is the best time to plant beans.

Step 3 - Soil preparation

To prepare your soil for beans, mix garden compost and potting soil. To break up any clay-like formations, adequately till the soil. Beans are nitrogen-fixing plants, which means they can absorb nitrogen from the air and use it to enrich the soil. Simply add compost to your soil before proceeding to the next stage of planting.

Step 4 - Installing Trellis

Install the trellis in your grounds to support the plant before sowing the seeds for pole beans. Place the trellis in the exact location where you want your beans to grow. The bean plant will spiral around the trellis as it becomes older. Make sure your trellis is well-anchored in the ground to prevent it from falling and causing harm to your plants.

Step 5 - Sowing The Seeds

Plant the bean seeds 9-12 inches apart, directly into the soil. Dig a 1-inch deep hole, place the seed in it, and cover it properly with dirt. Water the seeds on a daily basis for 3-4 days to help them germinate. To keep your plants growing, water them once every 2-3 days. Do not, however, overwater your plant.

Steps 6 - Harvesting

When the pods are complete and large in size, harvest them. When the pods start to take on the shape of the beans, they begin to dry up. Snap the pods from the top to harvest them. Harvesting should be done carefully so as not to harm the plant or prevent fresh pods from growing.
