What can I use for a backsplash other than tile?
I want something smooth for easier clean up. We now have white subway tile but it is hard to keep clean.

I would think the subway tile would be easy to clean because of it's shiny surface but I don't have it so I can't comment! I bet it's the grout that gets to be hard to clean. You could remove the tile and revert to painted walls with a stenciled design of your choice. That might be easier to keep clean.

The smoothest and easiest to clean is going to be a laminate backsplash. They are usually seamless, there's no grout and they come in a ton of colors and patterns. They are quite modern looking now.

I have white subway tile and love it. Is it your grout that's causing the problem? If so, it may not have been sealed. Cleaning it up and sealing would make it easier to clean. If it's the tile, leave your cleaner on long enough to let it work. I wipe it with a microfiber cloth after cleaning.
A solid stone or quartz would be one piece and easy to clean.
