We first painted the kitchen, did granite countertops, new lighting, sink and faucet, and a beveled subway tile backsplash. Beveled subway tile doesn't cost much more than regular subway tile but looks much richer...gives it dimension. We then did wide plank engineered wood floors. Before painting the cabinets we added moldings on all the cabinets ( below and above, on the drawer fronts and on the island) . We also cut out the insert of the corner cabinet and added a piece of glass and added molding. We saw how it's done on you tube. Adding the moldings made the cabinets look more high end after they were painted. We did a lot of work ourselves or we couldn't do all we did, but even just painting cabinets would make a nice impact. It cost about $100.00 to paint them ourselves and we were quoted $3,800 to have it done, and I must say it looks very professional! It takes time and patience, but if you pace yourself, it's so worth it in the end and you have the satisfaction of saying I did that!!

Started by painting kitchen walls Benjamin Moore Tranquility. It's a BEAUTIFUL blue green...I can't tell you how much I love it!!
Then had granite installed...Its called River White and it had enough gray in it so the kitchen didn't look too white.
Installed wood floor...it's by Mannington Hometown collection...Buckskin. We saw it in a model home and just asked them the name of it...love it!! Installed the beveled white subway tile.
Painted cabinets...don't know the color name...we had it matched to our white woodwork. It's Sherwin Williams paint and primer...2 coats of each (oak is hard to cover).

So gorgeous! I want to paint my cabinets now! In 2010 I gave the golden oak beauties a mahogany stain. And, as beautiful as it is, it really is very dark. I already have white subway for my backsplash and white tile counters that are fine for now. Thanks for showing this transformation!

Thanks so much! We are really loving it...you won’t regret it. I love mahogany also...had them in my last house but there is something about a white kitchen....very inviting...cheerful! Good luck!
