Justine: What a pretty room!! -- with gorgeous floors!--- the boards lead the eyes right to that fireplace ...which should be the focal point of the room! Put the TV above the fireplace and relocate the chest it is currently sitting on... it "competes" with that pretty fireplace!

Since it looks like the walls have tinge of yellow, paint the fireplace with white paint with a cool touch (blue added to white) ...Then get a blue and taupe rug to "anchor" the room.

    Good luck! HAVE FUN!

I would make shelves under the windows and paint shelves and fire place white.

The wall color is taking away from the beautiful floors. A soft grey on the walls would compliment the white fireplace and the furniture you are using. Your floor would pop. It would also make the room seem larger.

Another idea.... put foam and fabric on the coffee table and it can be used as both a coffee table and ottoman.

Less is more in a small room. Play with your furniture placement as well.

I think the brick is fighting the color of the walls. I would go lighter on the walls so your floors and fireplace become the focal points of the room. It will make it appear larger and more airy.

I would get rid of the yellow walls! It makes the entire room look old fashioned and dark. Paint white walls and either a complimentary color or white on the fireplace. I agree adding cabinets under the windows will start to tie in that entire wall. IF you have the money and time, tile over the brick all the way to the ceiling, adding in a new mantle higher up. Install the tv above the fireplace. Then, you've got an entirely new room all styled up!

Good ideas. I do not like grey, personally, but agree that the walls seem dark. Lovely room.

No TV on fireplace...too high to view comfortably. I would get a nice rug. Paint walls a soft white or a soft greige or beige color and then vertical art over fireplace.

With the yellow walls and all the neutral furniture, I think it would look amazing to paint the fireplace a fun color that will really stand out... like a cool blue color. Here are a couple color palettes to inspire you:
