Setting up a Library, a DIY

How to turn a super tiny un-utilized room (or any room) into a funky library in your own home!
First I painted the tiny room flat black. Home Depot has pre-mixed black paint by Glidden which is a better option than having black mixed at the paint counter. (The is an amazing thing!)
Sketch up some ideas on how you want to lay out shelves and how you want them supported. I reused shelves from an old Ikea bookcase, primed and painted them semi-gloss white.
Pick up your supplies. Here I used gold single track standards to contrast with the black paint and go with my pallet wood blinds (see my other post). Measure, level and screw the tracks into the wall studs.
If your floor is not level, use string and a bubble level to line up track pieces, depending on how you've designed it.
Add your shelves.
Add your books!
Add nifty things from around the house to dress up the shelves.
Don't forget some artwork too.
And there you have the beginnings of a super funky library! Add a chair or two, an asymmetrical or circular rug with lots of texture, a fun overhead fixture or floor lamp and you too can turn a super tiny room into the library of your dreams!
