I would use sconces on either side of mirror if getting rid of lamps. If not, something vintage that goes with the lamps.
is there wiring in ceiling already? some can lights or small spot lights would give best usable lighting
L.E.D. dimmable light , housed with a good exhaust fan can be mounted in your ceiling so that it casts sufficient light on sink, mirror, and tub/toilet areas.
