using storage bins, double bars to hang clothes on, culling out things you don't wear or need, storing items you don't need for the current season
Here's a link with lots of ideas:

Sort your clothes for the seasons. Use underbed storage boxes. Use plastic boxes and closet shelf separators so that you can fold and store up to the ceiling. Use hangers that collapse to hand more than 4 items such as slax, shirts, jeans etc. Ikea has a bunch of closet saving ideas as does the container store
double the space with two rows of clothing for shorter items and one section for longer things like dresses and pants. Hang pants from bottom cuff with pant hangers. Keep tops hung in colors. SO much easier to find what you want. If there is room on top or a shelf store sweaters in plastic bins. Put ONLY seasonal items out. Put shorts and things you don't wear in the winter and vice versa in plastic tubs and store under the bed or in another room.
I would suggest using vacuum bags for clothes, it takes the air out which takes up space. Here are some at Amazon:

Installing double bars is a big plus for clothes you like to hang. Shelving above the top rod can help you store clothing items that are out of season. Shoes, boots, etc. can be stored beneath the clothing that's haning on the second (lower) clothing rod. Good use of all vertical space will help you a lot!. A shoe storage holder that hangs on the back of the door can be used for shoes or jewelry or scarves./belts.
I would do a hanger row on top, a slacks row beneath it and then a shoes rack below that.
Flocked hangers that you cascade on top of each other. If you can, add a 2nd closet rod.
You can make use of storage bins and also double bars to hang clothes on. Or flocked hangers where you can cascade on top of each other.
Vacuum bags might help you out here though a small purge might as well. Take everything out, evaluate what you’re keeping and customize your storage based on those needs.
Hi Kala, the secret is to add 2 levels of rods for the hanging items and lots of shelves to sort the different clothes, you can pick up rods at any home store, and shelves are easy to build. Hope this helps you out,
