Neighbors trees?

They're probably fighting for a nesting spot. The males will fight with one another until one of them is finally able to establish dominance thus claiming the nesting spot 🙂

This is tough for sure. You’ll have to talk to your neighbors and see if you can come to an amicable agreement about what to do.

I just accept the fact that this time of year it is going to get loud. I have found that it is easier to provide nest or houses where you want them to be at.

Give them a place where you want them to go and provide many houses for them to use.

Perhaps even by placing a few bird feeders you could lure them away and where they would be less trouble for you.

I have seen many bird houses at my local Salvation Army.

My father-in-law used to have a windmill type lawn decoration. It made a clicking noise. The birds hated it. I have a windchime in our backyard that makes a beautiful sound, but, apparently it annoys the birds, as they seem to avoid that part of the yard. I don't know if it's the sound or movement, but, it might be worth a try. Good luck and stay safe!

First you can ask your neighbors to please have a tree man to come and trim them off of your property and if they tell you they're not going to pay for a tremor like tree trimmer then you have the right to call your city or your county,by law they it is their responsibility to keep the trees trimmed off of your property I had to do that and had to go through the city 2 send the owner a letter telling them they would trim the trees and charge them or it was their responsibility to get the trees trimmed off of my property by doing that he, he got someone to come and trim the trees off of my property that were hanging on my roof but it was his tree. But it's the law so that's all I can tell you to do that was my experience and that's all I can tell you to do is to ask your neighbor's nicely if they think it with your city or your county whichever you live in and then give them the address and the name and they should take it from there where do you go

Hi Madelaine, one of the joys of summer, they are likely sparrows, and it;s only a phase, don't worry about the poop or the feathers, the rain or a garden hose can clean them both up. We feed the birds and get many hour of enjoyment out of it. You could try to put up a lattice or something to keep the branches from entering your yard, but please don't stress over it, it really is not worth it. Others' comments above seem to be addressing the neighbour's trees hanging over into your yard. I did not understand that this was the problem here, as you said you trim the branches. Yes, you are entirely right in doing this to any offending branches that are interfering with, or infringing upon your property.

Do I understand the question correctly that what you are asking about is what you might do to 'quiet' the noisy messy birds down?

This summer the birds do seem to have been more active, maybe they have been enjoying the peace and quiet we have had outside due to the Covid 19 Lockdown. Maybe when life gets back to the noise we had before Lockdown we won't hear them or they will go away to a quieter area again. All the noise and feathers is caused by them suddenly finding themselves with freedom to choose where to roost with no restrictions, and your neighbours tree feel a bit like the beach does to humans.....

Hi Madeline, you might have a lot of bird nests in that tree on your side. Have you looked at it? By now all of the babies have probably been hatched because if they are sparrows they are usually done by early summer. Sparrows will make an absolute mess! After the babies are born, they still come back to the nests quite often.

We had a terrible bird problem one year living under some areas of our gazebo. They were under our gazebo nesting and every time we walked out there, 5-8 birds would fly out of their nests. It was awful, there was bird poop all under our gazebo where we like to have outdoor dinners. The gazebo became completely unusable for the time that we had the problem.

If you have a bird nesting problem, remove the nests.

Once removing the nests, use a Bird B gone gel in all areas where they were coming and going. Wherever they can sit near their nests, put this gel. It is super sticky and gets on their wings which they hate. They will leave!! It was the only thing that worked for us. We tried everything, an owl figure, spikes....nothing worked except this stuff. Just to let you know there is some conversation/controversy over this product. I don't believe it hurts the birds because we were told it doesn't and I never witnessed any birds get hurt or any dead birds when we used this stuff. We didn't overload the product to the point that the birds couldn't fly again. It was a light use and I could see the birds get it on their feet when perched and they would leave the area IN FLIGHT!. We waited till all the babies were gone from the nest before using this product, That is when we used this product. You might want to do more research if you are concerned that it would hurt the birds. This was just our experience. Nothing else seemed to work.Good LUCK!!

Birds are repelled by "flashtape" which can be purchased on line, as well as at numerous retailers. Motion activated owls also work well. For birds near your porch or patio, try planting numerous pots with white flowers such as cosmos. The fluttering of the flowers as the air moves appears to keep birds away.

See if your neighbor is okay with you hanging shiny objects in the tree to keep them away. We had recently purged a bunch of CD's & DVD's, then hung them around to keep birds from building in our carport & porch. It's working but you need quite a few. When we did it initially, we only used 3-4 and they still came around.

Whatever option you choose please don't choose one that will hurt the birds. There are some things like spikes that are very harmful.

Talk to your neighbors and express your concerns. Try to solve this together.
