If you spray vinegar and effectively kill everything, chances are that the sod won't take. You can try a half vinegar and water solution . Good luck !

Apology, I meant a water to vinegar based solution. I know not to lay sod down right away. I plan to prep soil free of dead grass/weeds, remove all rocks & twigs & then lay top soil. I'm needing to get a good home made solution recipe that will work?? Thank You...

If you don't plow up the layer of grass now there, it will eventually grow back through the new grass. The seeds are already there for the next season, and it would take grass killer, broad leaf weed killer, and small leaf/runner weed killer, all down a minimum of six inches, to clear the soil of most other growth. Best wishes 😇

After spraying with vinegar or anything else, wait two weeks then you can lay your sod and/or plant anything.
