We have a fenced yard and a small garden. There are very few animals in our area. Our dog is the only animal that goes there. I make sure I don't plant things that he will eat.

Get a motion activated sprinkler such as a Scarecrow. When anything walks near it it will come on for about 5 seconds. The noise scares the animal then they are hit by the water. All you have to do is hook it up to your hose and put it Where are you? You want to protect. I put one at each outer corner of the garden and it scared everything that came near it.
