Our home has a metal roof which has an open ridge vent. How can we keep wasp out but still allow the air flow needed for our attic fan to function properly?

If you've already removed the nest you can spray a deterrent on the spot where they like to build. You can put cheesecloth or muslin over the open ridge vent, if you can access it. If its one you can remove from the outside, take it out, put the cheesecloth over it and replace.
Screen off all the venting areas. Still allows for air flow but keeps bugs and critters out.
I found this sight with several ideas. I had never thought about needing an open ridge vent with the metal roof I want. God to know how to prevent wasps now! Hahaha!
: )
Is there any way you build a box screen around it?
I agree, a box screen would help!
All the nests were removed, and there were plenty of them. Screening the vent might be an option, but that will have to wait until winter as it is way too hot now to get up into the attic.
Thank you all for the suggestions.
The only thing I know is wasp spray. So far I've not found a natural deterrent for wasps
I just realized the link I thought I sent never got attached. Here it is. I hope it helps
