How to get rid of moles in yard?

Does anyone know how to get rid of moles in yard fast? Just yesterday I realized that we have a mole problem icon . I noticed a series of these mounds scattered throughout the yard. The darn critter is ruining our grass and we want him dead! I'm scared that we will have foundation damage to our home if this continues. What is the quickest, easiest way how to get rid of moles in your yard?

I counted 12 mounds like this in my yard. I don't know how may moles there are. Help!

Thanks Preston. Is this the only solution? Nothing I can do myself? What about spreading poison - will that work? Do I need to buy a separate trap for each hole?

I have 4 traps. Put it in near the end of mole tunnel and along the tunnel.

Try pouring urine on the tracks and mounds. Worked for me.

Hi Kimberly, I don't know where the moles go...probably to the neighbor's yard, but they do leave. The easiest solution for me was to have my husband urinate in a container and pour it onto the tracks and mole hills. I suppose any kind of urine would do. It worked for me and I hope it does for you!

  • A cat! just leave cat food out to see if there are any cats in the area that need care. if not, you can get one from a shelter. They love the challenge!

    • absolutely. of course not all care to do this. but many are natural hunters! Often though.... they will leave the "prize" at your doorstep so you can praise them,..

Poison peanuts as the last option. Yes cats catch moles.

Honestly the traps are best guarantee to get rid of them. It's what the professionals use.

If you have rosebushes cut the branches with the thorns and insert them into the mole's run. When the mole runs past the thorns they will knick themselves and bleed to death as they have no coagulation properties. Cheap and efficient. You can also use broken glass, but it will eventually work it's way to the surface and you run the risk of cutting yourself on the glass later.

Spraying the yard with castor bean oil will deter moles.

Keeping your cat in your home keeps it safe from diseases, fleas, and larger predators.

Drop mothballs in the tunnel or at least the opening of a tunnel. This worked for me in FL. The actual place where the moles nest is about 18 to 24 inches underground, guessing the tunnel visible from above ground is the trail “in” to the nest. Poison where other non-pesky animals and pets live is a risky way to get rid of moles.

Hi Deborah, moles don't like the smell of Castor Oil. Make sure to get it in granular or liquid form, not the stuff you buy at supermarkets. It's not strong enough and sprinkle it around the area.
