The raccoons are there looking for a meal. Like moles, they feast on grubs, so the idea is to get rid of them. Arguably the easiest way (without chemicals) is to put down Beneficial Nematodes. They are also known as roundworms. They will dig down into the soil and eat the grubs.

You probably have grubs, you need to use grub preventer before the really hot weather hits.
