How do I remove chipping paint from an outside chimney?
Recently purchased a house and the chimney brick has been painted. The top portion of the chimney, just above the roof is unsightly, as the paint is chipping off and peeling away. How does one remove paint from brick? What would be the best thing to do in my situation? Thank you

ERICK....I would try a good hard brush.
I would try a wire brush to remove the chipping paint and the repaint it.
Wire brush
Pressure washing and wire brush
I have used a power washer, but you need to keep nozzle some distance away from the brick so you don't dig into the brick. A wire brush may be needed to finish off the job before repainting.
Check and make sure the chimney cap is not leaking and water damage has caused the paint to peel from the inside mortar joints.
That’s a huge issue to nip in the bud.
Hi Erick, hope this helps you out,

I would try the brush as well, but then I would check the joints. You might have to reseal them or have them inspected. Ours were leaking and my husband had to add cement to the joints and a sealer to prevent water from seeping in.
