A sage green shutter would look pretty on your yellow house and you could paint the porch to match!

I love this combination. Paint your shutters sage and your entire porch sage and leave your porch rails and your front storm door white. Paint your inside front door sage too. Along with your new landscaping your home will have a fresh welcoming ambiance.

It depends on if you want it to blend or stand out. For blending in, white which matches lattice, rails, and close to the concrete. The other option would be paint all of it brown, which will ground it. I like the blue shutter and it's a good choice to go with the yellow & brown.

Yes I like the idea of listening it up. Lighter sage or blue would be pretty or in the middle like a med teal.

I like the idea of a lighter color, too. Maybe do the shutters to match? I think that would help to give the front of your house an airier, lighter feel to it.

With the current yellow and brown roof pick a color the actually is in the color family like terracotta. Shutters in that color and brown on the porch. Teal would be a big mistake. The light green would also look okay if you painted the lattice to match.

I like the color family idea, and porch and shutters should match.

I also like the sage green idea. If you paint your porch that color add some colorful and large planters to give you some color splashes.

I would paint the dark portion of your portion the same color as the lighter color of your foundation area beneath the yellow color of your house so attention is not called to the base of the porch because the dark brown draws you eye immediately there.

Very pretty home and especially so if you've added bushes, etc. so the foundation doesn't show as much. Plants/pots in front of the porch area will look great!

I think painting the porch white would be nice - and then paint your front door a dramatic color!

I would paint it to match the shutters. Its cohesive . You dont want too many colors.

paint the whole entrance brown, steps, frame, etc.

I would paint it dark to stand out a bit more. The white makes it blend in too much and it's hard to see.

  • I love green suggested earlier; it would really brighten it up. If it's ever in the budget, a lovely portico over your porch would also add some depth to the front of your sweet home. Good luck!

According to the experts I consulted when deciding on colors, for cohesion, go with 2 main colors, 1 accent. Roof, body, eaves or shutters. Then you could do the front door in a pop color. I wouldn't do anything until you landscape. The house will look totally different once you have plants and trees . You can soften the front with plant that conceal the foundation. And use mulch that is the color of the roof!

Then, paint the railings yellow to match the house. Then paint the door blue, not the navy accent, but a bit lighter! Pretty!

Hi Tori: What I usually suggest to people is for them to take a picture of the house, use whiteout on the places you want to paint and then make a bunch of colour copies and then, paint the areas you are thinking about in the colours you think might look good. That way, you can see what looks best to you.

Why not just paint the upright posts the colour of your shutters, or paint them yellow or paint the whole lot the same colour. I would also suggest you coloured the bottom of the house and the base of steps the same colour you have the steps, May be Blue or Black.

  • I love yellow houses with green accents. They are just so fresh and pretty!
