Interesting! How are the legs attached to the table? You might be able to add height by adding wood blocks underneath the table then reattaching the legs. What is the current height of the table?
Hello Barbara,
Put a drop over top on top of the table to make it the height you require and either Stain Varnish or paint it or cover it with a cloth. This will not damage this old piece of furniture but allow you to continue to use it.
Can you remove the tabletop from the leg(s) and add height on top of the leg pedestal? Usually the table top will unscrew from the legs. You could add small circles/squares of plywood with holes drilled in so you were able to rescrew the top to the legs. If you can post a picture it might be more helpful.
I would do what Naomie suggested and put blocks on top of the legs under the table so they are out of sight.
