Hi Deb,
Here's the "how to":
First things first: Stock up on all the supplies you need to DIY a reed diffuser. When it comes to picking a glass or ceramic vase, opt for one that has a narrow opening at the top, which slows down evaporation. Most importantly, pick the right kind of oil to use as a base. Mineral oils like sweet almond oil or safflower oil tend to be the most popular because they're thin enough to travel up the diffuser reeds (or bamboo skewers!), allowing your room to quickly fill with the scent of your choice. The rest is your call: pick from an assortment of essential oils to infuse your space with scents that fit the mood or season.

You can use a piece of pottery that isn't porous to hold the liquid. It needs to have a bottle neck to maintain fragrance. Then you can drop your reeds in to diffuse the scent.

Try putting a drop of your essential oil on your lamp light bulb.
Hi Deb, they're really easy to make. Just add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to a carrier oil (almond, jojoba, olive oil are all good) then put the mixture in a bottle with a narrow neck. Pop a few reeds or porous wood skewers inside and you're all done. You can also use bamboo skewers but it takes a little longer for the scent to travel up the skewers Make sure you keep it out of reach of small children and pets.

Add essential oil to water in Jam Jar and add Bamboo Sticks
I diffuse my own essential oils mixture on the stove with water, oils, cranberries, orange slices, and pine. Just be careful to keep it on low and continue to add water as the water level gets lower.
You can use essential oils and thin craft sticks, stick the sticks in essential oils in a bottle.
