Reattach fabric in old trunk

Cut a small slit if u have 2 with exacto and squeeze lil glue n there

Where exactly has it come loose? In the centre or in specific areas where it had been tucked in, or under the frame?

Sometimes with age, certain fabrics dry out and shrink or begin to disintegrate. If the fabric is stiff to touch and is fraying where it has come loose, this may be what has happened to it.

Posting a picture would help illustrate the problem.

My first thought was modpodge would probably work the best. I would brush it on and let it soak in to make the fabric more pliable and then smooth it back into place.

I agree that Grandmas advice sounds like it would work well, unless you want to disengage a larger portion of the fabric and spray an adhesive to the entire lid and then press the fabric back onto the hard surface of the lid.

Hello. Posting photograph could be helpful to isolate the areas where the fabric is removed and the extent of fabric meeting we attachment.

Try some fabric glue.

Spray adhesive from the auto parts store. They use it to tack up headliner in car.

Hi! I used mod Podge when I reclined my antique trunk. I cut the fabric just slightly larger than the part I was lining, applying Mod Podge to the wood, adhering the fabric and then layering the Mod Podge on it. I had removed the old material because it was musty. If you could remove the fabric, it would be easier to reapply I think. Good luck!

Try using a steam iron to soften up

I was going to suggest what Annie said, try using a steam to soften the fabric up so it will stretch enough for you to work with it. Just be careful not to use too much moisture, you don't want to damage the fabric or the trunk. Once it dries again, you can use a spray fabric adhesive. I wouldn't use mod podge, it will get tacky and stiff.

You can use a stapler to hold the fabric in place.
