Hello Lee,
A craft shop will have Plastic and Real cane available. Otherwise you could use anything that you can weave with from twisted paper to fabric or even supple twigs from the garden. Enjoy the journey...
You can also look to Amazon for plastic cane replacements.

Here's a post that might help - https://aprettylifeinthesuburbs.com/fixing-outdoor-rattan-furniture/
Can you use fabric strips? You can get very heavy, outdoor fabric that you could cut into strips and then weave them to recreate the seat or back. I'm not sure if you are looking to just fill in a spot or start with just the frame but this may be an idea if you are working with just the frame.

You could try weaving rope around the metal frame
Any sturdy material would do the trick. If you luck into maybe some fire hose, that’d be cool, or another kind of strapping. You could also make the seat solid with plywood and add cushions.
Hi Lee,you could try to restring, hope this gives you some ideas
