Remove the head and run the water to flush the line. Clean out the head and replace. My first question is why is there sand and rocks in your water line? Call your water supplier too.
Have to remove the head to dump the junk. I'd be wondering how it got there in the first place.
Take it off & clean it out, using a bucket of water. How did you get rocks & sand in shower head?,during a drain/plumbing replacement fix????
I had rocks and sand in mine too! Why, I'm not too sure but all you need to do is to screw it off and pull out the little screen basket inside. I washed out the screen then replaced it and screwed the head back on. You should use plumbers tape to wrap around the threads of the piece coming out of the wall before you screw it back on to reduce drips.
We had well water too. Never had anything come out of the faucets. Eventually had to have the tank and pump replaced because all that gunk filled the lines and one day NO water. Call a company to dig deeper and check if you tank, pump, lines, and water heater need to be replaced or flushed. The sediment destroyed at least 2 water heaters and Granny heated water on the stove when needed.
You should be able to remove the shower head to clean it.
Shower heads are usually a screw on, just unscrew it (counterclockwise), either clean it out or replace. Generally, people change out their shower heads for various reasons...need replacing, new style, broken...they can be unscrewed either by hand or using a wrench if on too tight.
To remove sediment from your well water supply, you can try a separation filter, a centrifugal system, whole house filtration systems, or even a water softener system. But to remove the rocks from the shower head itself you will need to remove it. Use plyers and a rag so the shower head isn't scratched and turn counter clock wise. That should remove it.
