you can also buy blinds at Walmart, Home Depot etc and they even have how to measure your window info online so you know you are getting the right size

You could also add sheer curtains to pull closed during the sunny part of the day and they will help to cut down on the sun coming in -they are inexpensive and easy to hang

Blinds will definitely work with this one.
We had the same problem with our patio doors. To solve it we went to Walmart and found light weight insulated drapes. The layer of insulation blocked the sunlight and heat exchange going on from the windows. When we had to patio doors installed, we were told they had a good "R" value when it came to energy efficiency, it was not as what we were lead to believe.
You could make the draperies very easily, a visit to Joanne's of a fabric store of your choice would be a source. Be sure to purchase a black out liner along with your fabric.

Lowes, Home Depot or any hardware store now sells blinds. Ikea has fabric blinds. Measure and check out those.
