Tools and materials:

  • All-purpose cleaner
  • Cotton swab or small cloth
  • Clothespin
  • Felt pad (small enough to fit on the clothespin)
  • Essential oil (your favorite scent)

1. Clean the vents

First, you'll want to clean any dust or grime that may have accumulated on your car's vents. Spray a small amount of all-purpose cleaner onto a cotton swab or a cloth.

Carefully wipe away any dust or grime sitting on the vents. This will help ensure better air circulation and a cleaner scent from your air freshener.

2. Prepare the DIY air freshener

Now, let's create a DIY air freshener. Take a clothespin and clip it onto one of the car vents.

Choose a vent that you often use for air circulation. Place a small felt pad onto the clothespin. This pad will hold the essential oil and release its scent gradually.

Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil onto the felt pad. Essential oils like lavender, lemon, or peppermint work well for car air fresheners. Allow the essential oil to absorb into the felt pad for a moment.

I don't know the answer ro this but I would think that if it is a wooden clothespin you wouldn't even need the felt. I think if you put enough essential oil on the wood it would absorb it and gradually dissipate. What do you think?

The felt pads is a sticker on one side. Peel and stick to the clothespin or the vent itself.

Doesn’t look too good - a clothes peg sticking out of the vent.
