DIY Fabric Freshening Spray
Hello, my loves! Today, I'm excited to share a simple and natural solution for keeping your fabrics smelling fresh and clean. With just a few ingredients and a couple of minutes, you can whip up your own homemade fabric spray that's perfect for freshening up everything from curtains and upholstery to bedding and linens. Here's what you'll need:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup vodka (at least 80 proof)
- 1/2 cup distilled water
- 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil (such as lavender, lemon, or eucalyptus)
- Funnel (optional)
- Spray bottle
*You can also swap out the vodka for rubbing alcohol. Personally, I find the odor of rubbing alcohol to be a bit strong, and while it does fade once it dries, it's pretty intense when you spray it!
If you do opt for vodka instead, make sure that what you're using is at least 80 proof- you'll need a stronger alcohol content in order to kill any odor causing bacteria trapped in your fabrics.
Instructions:
1) Start by combining the vodka and distilled water in a clean spray bottle at a 1:1 ratio. The alcohol in the vodka helps to neutralize odors and acts as a natural disinfectant, while the water dilutes the mixture and makes it safe for use on fabrics.
2) Add 10-15 drops of your chosen essential oil to the mixture. Essential oils not only add a pleasant scent to the fabric spray but also offer additional benefits such as antibacterial and antifungal properties. Choose your favorite scent or mix and match oils to create a custom fragrance blend. Personally, I opted for a mixture of lemon and lavender. I love how these scents create a blend that is both bright and fresh, yet, clam and soothing.
3) Secure the spray bottle cap and shake well to combine all of the ingredients thoroughly.
4) Your DIY fabric freshening spray is now ready to use! Simply spritz it lightly onto fabrics around your home, such as curtains, upholstery, bedding, and linens, to instantly refresh and deodorize.
**Allow the fabric spray to air dry completely before coming into contact with the treated fabrics.**
Not only is this DIY fabric spray incredibly effective at freshening up fabrics, but it's also eco-friendly and free from harsh chemicals found in many commercial fabric fresheners. Plus, it's budget-friendly and easy to customize with your favorite scents.
So why not give it a try and say goodbye to stale odors and hello to a fresh and inviting home? Your fabrics will thank you for it!
