DIY Mason Jar Candle Box

A couple of weeks ago, I was cleaning out our attic and I found 2 really great old boards just lying in the corner. They were really beat up, rustic, chippy and fabulous (if you like that kind of thing) and just waiting to be given a new life.
I wanted a big, rustic style Mason Jar Candle Box and this is what I came up with:
Here's what I did:

We cut three pieces to 81/2 inches long each for the bottom and 2 sides, and two pieces to 81/2 wide for the ends.

I placed the bottom and the two side boards on wax paper and attached them with wood glue. I let them dry over night. The next day, I glued on the ends and let them dry. Once all the glue was dry and because the boards are old not completely straight, I added nails to the corners of the end boards for extra stability.
I purchased a box of large, wide mouth Mason jars and 6 basic candles that were small enough to fit into the jars but larger than a votive.

Those boards were covered with years of attic dirt and dust, so after I gave the box a good washing with Murphy Oil Soap, I filled it with 6 of the jars & candles and some faux fall leaves.

The total box cost was about $15.
