Holiday Outdoor Urns #HolidayHome

Do you have an urn or container outside your front door that you decorate throughout the year? I have a black urn that gets decorated in several ways depending on the season. My favourite has to be for Christmas.
I use an assortment of greens, Spruce, White pine, Fraser fir... fill the container with floral sponge or dirt and then start with the center. Place the tallest items in the center to give it some height.
You can use branches, logs, anything that stands straight and tall. Then add the greenery all around, starting with the largest branches on the outside.
Continue to fill your container with the smaller branches as well as other foliage. I love using magnolia leaves. I finish with berries, pinecones, ornaments...what I happen to have on hand at the time. I reuse items to keep the cost down. Your yard is probably full of possibilities as well as all the old ornaments you may no longer be using. Just give them a coat of spray paint if the old colour has worn off or does not fit your colour scheme this year.
And when the urn gets covered with snow it is gorgeous! See more photos on the blog.
