Home Decor With Kids: Button Hearts

This is an incredibly simple craft, but my almost six-year-old daughter and three-year-old twins were totally into it, so I wanted to share it in case you are looking for a fun Valentine's Day activity to do with young kids. And a bonus is that the results look really cute hanging on the wall!
We got a sheet of foam core at the craft store, which we cut up with a utility knife to fit some small picture frames we already had on hand. We glued a craft paper heart on each piece of foam core.
Then we slathered tacky glue on the hearts…
…and the kids went to town sticking buttons on them.
We got little baggies of mixed buttons from JoAnn Fabrics. The frames are only 4 X 6. We wanted to start small, because we were not sure how long the little ones could stay focused on this task. They actually liked it so much, they asked for more when we were done. So maybe next time we’ll make one bigger heart all together as a family.
