If you're anything like me, you have heaps of scrap wood lying around your home. You don't want to throw them away in case you need them in the future but, for the most part, they just take up space. Well, I've found the perfect use for any scrap 2x4s you might have...
A while back, when I was in Restoration Hardware, a sleek phone charging station caught my eye. Unfortunately, it cost $79, which is well out of my budget. But thanks to those scrap pieces of wood, I was able to make myself a knock-off version for free.

Gorgeous, right? And completely free to make if you have some spare bits of wood lying around.
This is what I started with - a scrap 2x4.
It is as easy as marking where the cord goes, and a couple simple cuts! Within 5-10 minutes you'll have your base ready!
There you have it! A gorgeous phone charging station for $0.
