A Designer Living Room on a Budget by a Garage Sale DIY Junkie

My mom had been an interior designer as long as I could remember. I could never figure out how she just "knew" where everything went.....
Until one day I did too. The difference was that I made or re-designed most everything in my house.
My couch was a 30$ craigslist find that I painted and reupholstered with a drop cloth from Home Depot, painting the back with my favorite stencil and backsplash.
The coffee table I made completely from scrap wood I've collected over time. The finish was done by painting the wood white, then sanding it until the wood grain started to show. Then I wiped it with a Kim's stain to make it look like old wood, then a coat of wax finished it off.
The tray sitting on top was also made with scrap wood.
The chair and table were re-designed Craigslist finds and I paid 20$ for each.
The storage cart/ bench was also a scrap wood project.
All in all, not one thing in my living room was purchased for over 30$ (Even the mirror and chairs) and if I didn't make it or redesign it, I bought it second hand from Craigslist.
You don't need to hire a designer, and you don't need to spend a fortune. Just believe in yourself and don't let anyone tell you that you can't do these projects. You can!
Enjoyed the project?
