Coffee Table Up-do

A buddy sold me this, not much of a buddy you say...........I shiver at the thought of doing this one.
However,it was much easier than I thought it would be.
However,it was much easier than I thought it would be.
First of all, take the thing apart.
Have to admit,I like the details on this one.
Legs off,now to remove the panels and top.Luckily, once the panels came off,all I did was flip it over, give a sand on both sides, and gave it a white base.
I also did the panels in a white base.
Here is the front side of the panels after I added a watered down tan stain,I love how the stain went into the deeper parts.I left the backs of the panels white as I did also with the ends of them. The under side of the panel that faces the floor, got some stain though.
The legs got a coat of white, actually three coats, they were pretty bad.
I then went over them with the same stain as the panels, and left a little extra around where the embelishments are.
The legs had these weird bracket things, and they also slid into the panels where some slots were cut out. Very strange.
This is a close up of one of the legs and a corner of the table.
Here she is,all done up in her finery.....doesn't she look better with less makeup on ?
I took this shot about an hour later, funny how it looks darker when the sun is going down.
Enjoyed the project?
