DIY Sea Glass Bottles

I've been recycling bottles with nice shapes for diy projects. I wanted to try this sea glass effect on bottles. I can use it as accent piece to any room or use it as a vase.
All the materials I used are stuff I already have: recycled bottles, food coloring, elmer's glue, paint brush, disposable bowl and twine.

I've been saving liquor bottles for this project.
Materials needed:
wine bottles or any glass
white glue
food coloring
paint sponge or brush
disposable bowl/plate

Materials I used.

1st, I washed the bottles. To have the sticker label removed, I soaked the bottles in warm water with liquid dish soap for 30 minutes, then I scrubbed the label off with sponge.

Once all the labels are off, I dried it off.

When it's all dried up, I mixed one food coloring per bottle with white glue. Any brand will do. I used 1 disposable bowl for each bottle.

I let it dry overnight.

This is what it looked liked when it dried.

I added some twines and put the lids on. Instant mantle or dining room accent decor.

could this be done to the inside of the bottle instead of the outside? i know you couldn't do it with a paint brush but i thought if you thin the glue down a bit it could be poured inside and just "rolled" around the bottle til it's completely coated????

How do the bottles get the frosted look? The finished product looks really good for just brushing colored glue on how many coats did you put n?

SO MUCH FUN!!!! And so EASY! I started with a small jar and I am so pleased with how sweet it looks! I store sugar packets in this as you can see through the unpainted "window"! Again so much fun!
