Monogrammed Wood Slice Cheese Board

My mom saw a cheese board at Crate and Barrel that she was tempted to buy. I was positive I could make one that was just as cute for her, so I did!
I started by picking up an unfinished wood slice from Hobby Lobby for $6! (I've seen unfinished wood slices at several craft stores - not just Hobby Lobby) Then, I printed out the monogram from my computer on regular computer paper. I picked a font that was bold so it would be easy to cut out with an X-acto blade.
Next, I cut out the monogram, using my X-acto knife.
I used gold spray paint to paint the monogram on the wood slice.
I put 3 coats of polyurethane on the board to finish it off. (Note: According to FDA regulations, the typical clear wood finishes that dry to a hard film, including polyurethane, are considered food safe - I made sure to look into that before I used it!)
After the polyurethane was completely dry, it was ready to use!
