My kids love eating fresh fruits and veggies. No, I'm not joking. And yes, and I know I am blessed. How many kids actually like to eat fresh fruits and veggies? It's a proud mama moment for me. But, being kids, their preferences of what vegetables and fruits they like are constantly changing. One day it's tomatoes, the next day it's grapes, the next day it's corn. It's a little difficult to keep their favorite fruit or veggie on hand. That means I have to keep a good selection of them all the time, and so I don't waste any food, I do my best to keep them fresh.
Here are some tips I've learned to help keep your fruits and veggies crisp and fresh.

Rule 1: Don't Wash Your Produce
Onions and potatoes make each other go bad, so don’t store them together. They also like to be in cool places with plenty of air circulation, so baskets are a great place to store them.
Tomatoes lose their sweetness if you put them in the fridge, and they last longer if they are stored with the stem side down.
Garlic lose their flavor and spoil faster in the fridge. They last the longest when stored in the dark.
Cukes don’t like being cold, and they go bad faster if you store them with any other fruit or vegetable.
Stone fruit, like peaches, plums, and cherries, prefer to be on the counter. But don't store them near a window. These yummy fruit don't like sunlight, because it makes them shrivel up.
Lemons store just fine in or out of the fridge. They're not picky.
If you’re going to eat those apples soon, keep them on the counter. They'll taste better.
But if you're planning on saving them for longer, store them in the fridge. They can last up to three weeks in your fridge.
Oranges like to be refrigerated, as do grapes. Grapes also last longer in bags -- you can just keep them in the bags you get them in.
Make sure to keep fruits and veggies exactly where they're supposed to be, and you'll get to enjoy your produce much more, for much longer!
