We've been in need of a TV stand for awhile now. For the last 6 months we've been using my son's old lofted bed as a sort of makeshift tv stand.
We found a beautiful restoration hardware inspired build on Jen Woodhouse's Blog, and the free plans on Ana White's Blog.
We followed the plans for the most part, and made a few minor modifications. The biggest being that instead of making pull out drawers for the top three drawer spaces we designed our drawer faces to flip down to give us easier access to dvd players and what not.
When I first saw this build I thought it'd be a lot more complicated. But really it's all pretty straight forward with simple cuts.
Everything is attached using pocket holes and glue. We used our kreg jig to make all said pocket holes. We added a 1x4 on the back to anchor our tv to (we also anchored the console to wall studs).
To distress the drawer faces I used a combination of a drywall knife, rubbing/banging the wood on my driveway, and a trowel.
For the finish I used a mixture of Gray, Early American, and Walnut.
We could not be happier with this build! It is SO incredibly functional and fits our needs perfectly! My new favorite piece!
