We went camping last weekend and the bees were everywhere! This time of year they seem to be particularly annoying because they seem almost sluggish and way more persistent. I did some research to find out how to tell which bee is which, what to do when one lands on you, and what to do if you get stung. Click "To See More" below for more details on what I leanred.

Sensible Gardening and Living on Sep 01, 2013Bees seldom bother us unless severly provoked. I suspect you were bothered by wasps and hornets which are meat eaters and find us juicy:)

Bonnie Bassett on Sep 03, 2013I a hornet a bee or a wasp? I have a nest in the ground in my back yard when my friend was mowing last week she didn't know it was there until she got attacked by the bees or hornets not sure what type of bee makes it's nest underground? also have a nest on the innerside and on the top of the door frame it is small and the hornet or yellowjackets don 't seem to be bothered when I open the door and go in and out but I feel nervous! I don't want to destroy them so I just try and ignore them !

Tawsha and Patti @organizedCHAOS on Sep 04, 2013Good grief, @Bonnie, how scary for your friend. From what I learned, a hornet is a wasp. If you'll click on the link to our website (after the "read more" below my post here), I've provided a lot more information than I was able to list here. I think it might help you with the habits of each. -Patti

Yellow jackets! There a nest underground, you need to find the nest and pour gasoline until you know all are dead! The nest looks just like a hornet nest that hangs out of the trees!
