Upcycled Popcorn Tin Into Charcoal Bin

Have an ugly popcorn tin leftover from the holidays? Was it headed to the trash? Mine was! I scooped it up and painted it a pretty navy blue. Then I clear coated it in clear chalkboard paint and added some washi tape to dress it up. Now it hides our ugly charcoal for the grill!
Take an old popcorn tin.
Paint it!
Use clear chalkboard paint to make a writable surface.
Prime your chalkboard surface by rubbing chalk all over it. This will ensure your first marks won't be engrained in there forever!
Write or draw on it!
Stuff it with charcoal!

Pamela Langone on Nov 09, 2014Would that work for ash box from fireplace?

Megan Aubrey on Nov 10, 2014@Pamela Langone Hmmm....that's an interesting idea. Probably. But it is a thinner metal so I would be slightly concerned about really hot ashes perhaps melting it. So I might tread carefully on that one. Cool idea though!

Trudy Hibler on Mar 09, 2015Love this idea! Our charcoal always ends up left out, then it rains, then the charcoal is ruined...etc, etc, etc. Thanks!
