Terri Jones on Oct 06, 2013It is a shame that it is possible that maybe one day we will not see these beautiful creatures. Their numbers have plummeted 80% since just last year alone. The worst threat is probably people cutting down the pine forests in the Mexican mountains where they spend the winter. Also, pesticides that destroy milkweeds in central and eastern North America have hit them very hard. Milkweeds are the only plants on which monarch can lay eggs and are also a food source for them. It will sure be a sad day when they disappear unless something is done to preserve these wonderful creatures of nature.
