Miniature Camper Glamper Style

Sometimes life gets in the way of doing what we really want. In my cause, it was my adult son who decided to bring home a 9 week old greyhound puppy. Wow, did that upset daily life.
So of course there was no way I could work on my mega dollhouse leaving a puppy unattended with two pugs.
I started to work on little projects at my kitchen table. I started making clothing for my dolls, miniature food for the house, etc....
I managed to drop into Toy R Us. I'm always looking to see what I can use for miniatures and in my dollhouses. I came across the Fisher Price Loving Family VW bus. It looked about right for scale so I decided to purchase it and play around.
This is what the bus originally looked like. It came with a great set of miniatures too. I just didn't like the plastic look. I knew I had to change it completely.

The above photo is the beginning changes. I purchased Testers spray paint and carefully sanded and masked off windows, and bumpers. I also decided to spray paint the table and chairs. I purchased some scrapbook stickers and applied those onto the van.
This is such a great little Camper. I just needed to glamp it up and it was easy with little time investment.
This is the beginning of the transformation of the interior.

I removed the top bunk and refashioned the bottom bunk. I had some scraps of fabrics to make pillows. I cut a piece of cardboard, added thin batting and glued fabric around to create the backrest of the couch.

The flooring was scrapebook paper. I used spray adhesive to attach and coated with a Matt mod podge. I did the same for the back wall. The little flower rug is from IKEA. It's actually a cup holder. Go figure 😝
So now, I don't know at what point I decided to make this detail rich but it happened. I decided that since I couldn't devote the time to work on my dollhouse, I was going to create a camping scene with as much detail as I could possibly make on my own.

So I decided to sew some sleeping bags, make a firepit out of cut up branches, stones and a flickering battery operated tea light, and of course add a roll up awning to the trailer.

I also raided my boys playmobil stash for anything that might work, like the radio and lamp light.
I decided I needed a tent too. I made this tent with d op cloth and wire. It was alright but I eventually purchased a cheap Bratz tent on eBay because it was larger.

This camping project has turned into a full blown storyline on Instagram. If you want to join me to enjoy the antics of my girls, come follow me on "allieshouse". It is a page dedicated to my miniatures and the adventures of my 1:12 scale Ball Jointed Dolls.

Here are a few images from the storyline. I hope you enjoy 😊
