DIY Kitchen Makeover - Painted Cabinets

When my husband and I moved into our new home we knew the kitchen needed updating as it was very dated. We have plans to knock some walls down and make it into open plan in a few years, so wanted to update the kitchen on a budget and with as little work as possible as this was going to be our 'for now' kitchen, until we had saved enough for our 'dream kitchen'. We decided to spruce it up using some paint instead!
Here is the before picture of the old kitchen cupboards and tiles.
I started by removing the drawers (in order to remove the hardware). I did leave the kitchen cabinets on as I did not want the hassle of putting them back on. I could manage to reach every bit with the paint brush so there was no need to remove them.
I removed the old hardware. Once the old hardware was gone, I washed the cupboards using some sugar soap. Be sure to remove all the grease before applying the paint or it will not stick. Once it was washed and dried I sanded slightly (read instructions on the paint as laminate did not require any sanding at all)
Once dry, I started painting the cupboards using a combination of paint brush and small roller. I then changed the hardware
Then I painted the tiles using the tile paint (with small roler) and the makeover was done.
I added some coutry style pulls & cups
Enjoyed the project?
