A Great DIY Flooring Project and It's WATERPROOF

I just wanted to share an innovative (and newish) flooring product. It's called COREtec Plus. It looks like hardwood (and they options that look like tile as well), but it's WATERPROOF. This can be installed by a professional flooring expert or a handy do-it-yourselfer.
Coretec plus is a luxury vinyl. The top layer is vinyl (and has an invisible wear layer). The middle layer is recylced limestone, and the bottom layer is cork. All 3 layers are waterproof. It comes in a variety of colors, including a lot of grays (I personally love the grays). But it also comes in light oak colors, mid toned warmish colors, browns and darks.
Coretec Plus is a floating floor, so it clicks together in the same way that a laminate floor would. But, unlike a laminate (which is NOT waterproof and buckles in moisture), Coretec plus is waterproof, so it will do well in area that get water or moisture, such as kitchens, basements, bathrooms. It's important that your floor is flat/level, otherwise it will bounce (just as a laminate can). Unlike the vinyls that you glue to the floor, if your floor is flat, you do not need to prep the floors to install this product.
Also, it's noteworthy that the cork underlayment will also help you with sound absorption and a bit of insulation. Coretec, in my opinion looks very real. In fact, it look (and feels) much more real than laminate and even more real than some of the engineered hardwood floors. You can read my full review on Coretec plus here. It includes more pictures, and tools you can buy to install (don't worry...they are very inexpensive and you can buy them on Amazon. It also has a video to show you how you install it.
Coretec Plus can be installed on top of concrete or plywood, or even OSB. So, it's works in many areas, including apartment buildings. It can also be installed on top of tile (as long as the tile is even and isn't cracking).

  • I had Coretec installed last spring and I LOVE IT. I cannot say enough good things about it. I had mine installed on the diagonal. It is really the best decision I could make. Thanks for sharing.

Elizabeth - I'm so glad you like it. Yes, going on a diagonal adds a nice touch and makes your space look larger.
