I have heard of moth balls in and near their tunnels. Never tried it though.
This man seems to know his stuff. He says high concentrated caster oil will make the ground stink. There is a thing called a Mole Zap, which unlike the solar powered ones that are useless, it emits CO2 and puts them to sleep.

Moles like grubs and other lawn bugs. I would think if you got rid of the bugs, they would go elsewhere.
First try a grub control. Then spray castor oil in the holes. Please do not use mothballs they are poisonous to the environment which is in enough trouble.Apply sprays as hot pepper and garlic,.blood meal.
One thing that helped us was put those toy Worley wigs all over the card for a couple weeks. They don't like vibration and when the wind blows it vibrates the soil.
Firstly, mothballs are not bad for the environment, they volatilize into a gas harmless to humans and animals. Try bubblegum in the burrows, the moles eat it, cannot digest it and pass away silently from constipation.

thank you all for ideas. I had heard they didn't like vibration or offensive smells. I planted garlic in several places and will try several others suggested
Castor oil or a windmill or whirligigs - they hate vibrations
