Built In Shelving

While working on my latest project (my parent's living room makeover), one of the main items on the list was making over the built-in's in their living room.
The left unit use to be enclosed and it contained a TV. My Mom and Dad really wanted it to mirror the other book shelf so we opened it up and made the shelving units match. I was trying to keep their spending down, so I was urging them to leave it alone to save some money, but in the end, I'm really glad we decided to mimic the other side. The built-ins look so much more "finished" now that they match.
During their kitchen reno we added bead board to their bar area. After seeing how gorgeous the bead board looked, we decided to add bead board behind the book shelves as well. That detail adds SO much to the entire room! Such a fun little accent!

Donna R on Jan 19, 2014Love your built-in shelving. Looks great with the beadboard. We did a similar thing in our living room. I love the clean, crisp style of your parent's living room. So different from the "before" pics. I signed up for your blog. Love your style!
