Sometimes you just need a simple and inexpensive fix to solve a problem. I have an awkward area of my patio where I've always wanted to install some type of pendant light (mainly for aesthetic). Using a $2 plastic planter pot and an LED Battery-powered push light, I did just that. And now, by watching this video, you can too!
Start by drilling a hole in the center of the bottom of your flower pot. Spray paint your pot in the color of your choice. Don't forget to do the inside! I used a navy blue for the exterior and a metallic silver for the inside. Don’t you love the two-toned look?
Insert a chain through the hole from the exterior to the interior of your pot. Attach an S-hook to the end of the chain and secure the chain tightly around the hook (make sure it’s secure so that it doesn’t fall apart when you hang it up—watch the video for an easy way to do it).
Pull the chain from the back, so that the hook is flat against the inside of the flower pot. Check the video to see what the hook should look like before you add your light.
Next, grab your LED push light. With just the click of your hand, the button turns on and off. Attach 3M Command Velcro Strips to the backside of your battery-operated LED push light. Stick & secure the light into the center of your pot, covering the S-Hook.
Apply another S-hook to the end of your chain and hang on your patio or deck. Easy peazy outdoor class! And with a $6 price tag, anyone can do this!

looks easy enough but what keeps the battery in the light from not getting wet in a storm and falling off or failing to work?

I've used those lights in a dark closet, and they didn't last long....within a few weeks, they would no longer work.
